Bye bye adenoids and tonsils!

After ongoing problems with Austin's nasal sinuses, as well as his mouth breathing and snoring, today was finally the day he was to get his adenoids and tonsils removed!  He said he was only 5% nervous to which I replied it was totally normal if he was 95% nervous.

Not to jinx it but, so far so good.

We got to the ENT at 9:15am this morning and they had him in jammies and surgical booties and hat and ready for anestiesia by 10am.  His doctor came out around 10:40 to let me know it was a success and that his adenoids and tonsils were all HUGE and this should give him remarkable improvements within a few days.   Music to my ears. 

He awoke from the anesthesia about 20minutes later and I was allowed back with him. The anesthesia did make him sick though so that part wasn't fun.   He took to icewater and popcicles right away then took a half hour nap in the recovery room.

Finally we were done, they had given him some extra IV fluids since he got sick twice and they wanted to make sure he was well hydrated.  We left between 12:30-1:00pm. 

Since we've been home (it's now 6:42pm) he has had several otter pops/popcicles, a bowl of applesauce and just had some lukewarm scrambled eggs.  On top of sips of icewater every 10minutes or so.

He says his pain level is a 0 of 10...due in part to the alternating ibuprofen and Loratab I'm sure. 

I'm sure tomorrow will  bring more pain as his throat will be dry when he wakes up.
