After a few stops along the way for food or gas, we checked in at the Howard Johnson across from Disneyland around 4pm. AWESOME hotel for kids - great water park play area, arcade, and close to Disney. One of the things I had bought for Austin was an autograph book. He was VERY excited to get to collect autographs and filled it up, we'll have to get another one for our next trip ;-)
We got into Disneyland just as the parade was beginning - what a great welcome! Austin was instantly entranced. I loved seeing Disney through his eyes.
It was a great first day, we went on a few rides, had some dinner and watched Fantasmic! which he had been telling me for some time he HAD to see when we went to Disneyland (he thought we MIGHT go this Summer haha). Exhausting day though, wonder who will fall asleep first tonight?
No doubt, the first day, even if it was a late arrival, at Disneyland was PERFECT! Austin was suprised with the trip in the morning, he was a great car ride companion never asking "are we there yet" - in fact I was the one saying "only 3 more hours" and giving the countdown. He had fallen asleep right when we hit LA of course which was fine since it was about 3pm and traffic was growing thick in parts.
